173. Puerto Vallarta Celebrates Tourism Boom, Eyes Even Bigger 2026

Puerto Vallarta is celebrating a stellar tourism year in 2025, highlighted by a report from Jalisco Secretary of Tourism Michelle Fridman, presented at the Puerto Vallarta Convention Center. The city welcomed 5 million visitors, generated an economic impact of 32 billion pesos, achieved a 70% hotel occupancy rate, and hosted 123 cruise ships, carrying over 392,000 passengers. These results reflect robust traveler confidence in Puerto Vallarta’s quality of service and natural attractions.

With the winter travel season approaching, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport is prepared for increased arrivals, and Booking.com reports a 4% rise in accommodation searches compared to the previous year. This trend signals a busy winter season as tourists seek out the area’s beaches and festive atmosphere.

Officials credit this success to coordinated government promotion and the hard work of local tourism stakeholders. Tourism Director Alejandra Cornejo praised Secretary Fridman’s leadership, emphasizing ongoing strategies to further enhance Puerto Vallarta’s appeal and ensure a vibrant future for tourism. The city remains poised to attract visitors with its stunning scenery and welcoming spirit.
