The Federal Government is set to commence construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge, which was formerly known as the “Federación,” beginning in October 2025. This ambitious and vital infrastructure project aims to create a crucial connection between San Vicente, located in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, and the Verde Vallarta subdivision situated in Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The bridge will play a pivotal role in enhancing transportation and facilitating the movement of people and goods between these two important areas along the Mexican Pacific coast.
President Claudia Sheinbaum unveiled the details of this significant project during a morning press conference, where she outlined the government’s vision for improving regional connectivity and infrastructure. The construction will be overseen by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), which is led by Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, a key figure in the execution of this major undertaking.

The bridge itself will span an impressive 1.8 kilometers and represents a substantial financial investment totaling 900 million pesos. With a projected completion date set for 2027, this project will reach fruition midway through President Sheinbaum’s current term in office. It is anticipated that the Amado Nervo Bridge will greatly enhance mobility in the region and strengthen the connections between these two key destinations, ultimately contributing to the local economy and tourism industry.
Additionally, the decision to officially rename the bridge to Amado Nervo was formalized on December 28, 2024, during an official visit to the area by President Sheinbaum. This change reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering regional development and honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to Mexico’s cultural and historical landscape. The Amado Nervo Bridge symbolizes not only improved infrastructure but also the dedication to progress and collaboration within the region.
