40. Puerto Vallarta´s Malecón Set for Major Upgrades

Puerto Vallarta is preparing for major improvements to its iconic malecón, including upgrades to sidewalks, seawall cleaning, and the installation of new prefabricated benches to enhance safety and comfort for visitors. Recent efforts also involved replacing 35 traditional lamps with energy-efficient LED lighting and conducting infrastructure repairs to improve sustainability and efficiency.

In addition, there are plans to build a new 140-meter pier near Hotel Rosita, with an estimated cost of 430 million pesos (approximately US $21.3 million). This project will feature a metal canopy, outdoor seating, pedestrian and stage lighting, and a large viewing platform, offering an enriched experience for tourists.

The governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, envisions creating a more uniform architectural style in Puerto Vallarta’s historic center, with white facades and tiled roofs that reflect its traditional charm. Several piers have already been constructed along the coast, including in Quimixto and Boca de Tomatlán, and additional projects are planned to develop coastal infrastructure further in the region, boosting tourism and preserving its scenic beauty.
