111. Puerto Vallarta Plans Bus Route Changes and Cuale Island Renovation

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González has unveiled an ambitious redesign project for the city’s historic center, which will include alterations to public transportation routes. Approved by the City Council, this initiative aims to alleviate congestion and enhance mobility while preserving the unique character of the downtown area.

“We are taking a comprehensive approach to revitalizing the Historic Center, and public transportation plays a crucial role in this effort. We need a strategy that reduces congestion on the limited roads available. Additionally, we aim to improve navigation for both residents and visitors,” said Munguía.

The mayor highlighted the challenges associated with accessing downtown, pointing to the restricted entry points such as Par Vial, Medina Ascencio Avenue, and Mexico Street, which encircles Hidalgo Park. Any mobility enhancements must carefully consider these limitations.

To execute this plan, the city will collaborate with the State Government to assess potential adjustments to bus routes, including the possibility of rerouting or reducing traffic in the city center. The redesign process will also incorporate public consultations, ensuring that community feedback is integral to the initiative.

Furthermore, Munguía announced plans to renovate Cuale Island, further supporting the overall revitalization efforts in the area.
