The project includes revitalizing Cuale Island, an iconic site formed in 1926 when the river split during a flood. Since then, it has become a cultural and tourist hub, home to the Archaeology Museum, restaurants, galleries, and vibrant public spaces. The initiative aims to stabilize the island’s banks, which have suffered from landslides and erosion, through the construction of protective walls and sustainable environmental practices.
Mayor Munguía emphasized the importance of engaging local residents and visitors in the planning process, ensuring that development respects regulations and balances growth with preservation.
