Puerto Vallarta will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rio Cuale Island from October 25 to 27, with activities at the river esplanade from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The island, formed in 1926 by the natural division of the river, has been a cultural and social symbol, from its use by washerwomen in the 1960s to becoming a vibrant public space with parks, restaurants, artisan markets, cultural centers, and an archaeology museum.
Connected by pedestrian bridges offering panoramic views, the island has evolved into a hub of tradition and art. The celebration will include community fairs, historical exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, and musical performances, inviting residents and visitors to honor a century of history, culture, and community on this iconic site.
