9. Public Toilets Will Be Open 24/7 on Morelos Street

Juan Pablo Martinez, the City and Historic Center Manager, has initiated a comprehensive deep cleaning campaign for the downtown and boardwalk areas of Puerto Vallarta, which includes plans for the installation of public restrooms. This initiative seeks to tackle cleanliness challenges in the city’s main tourist zones during the peak international tourism season.

Martinez, a former president of Coparmex, is collaborating with various municipal departments to implement a reorganization strategy aimed at revitalizing both the downtown area and the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta.

As part of the initiative, three to four public restrooms will be installed along Morelos Street to Encino, operating 24 hours a day to help address the issue of public urination. Additionally, Martinez has been engaging with local groups to discuss improvements in waste collection and the enhancement of building facades in the city center.

In a recent meeting with the Residents Association of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, participants focused on the cleaning of public areas, recycling initiatives, and strategies for beach waste management. The cleanup effort will include daily deep cleaning of streets, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings in the Romantic Zone, with teams of over 20 workers starting their shifts at 5:00 AM.

Martinez noted that the initiative has received strong support from local residents, workers, and the expatriate community, expressing confidence that these efforts will lead to positive outcomes.
