120. Puerto Vallarta Gears Up for a Safe and Enjoyable Semana Santa

The Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection and Fire Department, in partnership with municipal, state, and federal authorities, has launched the Programa Operativo Semana Santa y Pascua 2025 (Holy Week and Easter Operational Program).

Endorsed by Mayor Luis Munguía, this initiative seeks to protect both residents and visitors while ensuring clean and orderly public spaces. Emergency services, local businesses, and volunteers are collaborating to offer comprehensive support throughout the festivities.

A dedicated team of over 190 officers will be strategically deployed throughout the municipality, focusing on popular beaches such as Playa de Oro, Holi, Camarones, Mismaloya, and Boca de Tomatlán. Monitoring will also extend to the Mascota, Cuale, and Pitillal rivers, as well as mountainous areas, places of worship, and recreational zones. To enhance these efforts, a fleet of ambulances, rescue vehicles, boats, and all-terrain vehicles, along with trained personnel, will be on standby for quick responses on both land and water.

Businesses in the vibrant tourist areas will be monitored to ensure compliance with permits and operating hours, contributing to an orderly environment. Recognizing the anticipated surge in waste, increased cleanup efforts will be implemented to keep Puerto Vallarta’s streets and beaches pristine.

The operation will also receive vital assistance from the Red Cross, which will station ambulances, paramedics, and volunteers at key locations, such as the Malecón, to provide readily accessible medical care. Municipal Transit officers will conduct patrols and implement preventive breathalyzer tests to promote road safety, while the Inspection and Regulations Directorate will supervise alcohol sales at beach restaurants and establishments.

These coordinated efforts will be managed from a centralized Emergency Operations Center, promoting efficient communication and resource distribution. Nearby municipalities, including San Sebastián del Oeste and Cabo Corrientes, will also contribute their support to this joint initiative.

In the spirit of community responsibility, citizens are urged to adopt safe practices throughout the holiday season. This includes avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol, adhering to posted speed limits, closely supervising children and seniors, refraining from open fires in wooded areas, properly disposing of waste, and diligently following the directions of emergency personnel.

With a well-organized operation and strong community engagement, Puerto Vallarta reaffirms its commitment to delivering a safe and enjoyable holiday experience for all.
